Hello and welcome
Welcome to Yumdidilyumptious, a website created by Kevin, Erin and Reece. Our website was developed to share with the world our adventures transitioning into a predominantly plant based whole foods diet. We hope the site will be a useful resource for both ourselves and others as an archive of plant based whole foods recipes and information. All the recipes you will find on the site are plant powered and always 100% Vegan.
Myself and Erin both grew up in Scotland before moving to London, England after getting married. Most recently we made the decision to move to Vancouver, Canada where we now live with our two beautiful sons in Sunny Tsawwassen.
Transitioning into a plant based whole foods diet
Growing up in Scotland our diet was very traditional in that it always contained sources of meat and dairy with a variety of vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes. We never questioned our diet back then, admittedly, we were both blissfully unaware of the many negative aspects of meat and dairy consumption. Various sources of information helped educate us to feel strongly enough that we should be moving away from meat and dairy in our diet, one of these, was the documentary Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret. The documentary was a revelation, it made us question our own ethics and to consider the future not only for ourselves but for our boys and entire family. The other, was a book by T. Colin Campbell, PhD called The China Study, a book which presents facts demonstrating that consuming animals products is not optimal for our health. Our decision to switch to a predominately plant based whole foods diet happened almost overnight and we have been learning how to adapt ever since. It took about four weeks to use-up all existing meat and dairy products from our kitchen and to build up a pantry which supports our new diet.
We are still are and always will be, looking for the best nutritional and lifestyle options for our family.
